The association of mitochondrial disease patients is a nonprofit entity. Founded in 1999 as an initiative of two affected parents and three affected.
In July 2000 took place the presentation of the Association along with the book "My world of horses" written and released by an affected mitochondrial pathology, Javier Pinar Hafner.
Initially, the scope of the association was confined to Andalusia, but due to the impact of the presentation of both the book and the same, their scope was extended to the whole Spanish state.
AEPMI constitute about 220 people living in Spain, and a large number of relatives and committed people who work with the Association.
